¹³ (34:14) Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. ¹⁴ (34:15) Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

³ Set a guard, O LORD, to my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.

²⁴ Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

³⁷ { But let your speech be, Yea, yea, Nay, nay; and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one.

⁴⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

²³ Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

²⁶ If any man among you thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man's religion is vain.

¹⁶ But shun profane babblings; for they will proceed further in ungodliness,

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, the world of iniquity. Thus is the tongue set among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell. ⁷ For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind. ⁸ But the tongue can no man tame, it is an unruly evil, it is full of deadly poison.

¹⁰ out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

⁴ nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting; but rather giving of thanks.

³⁶ And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

¹⁰ And he called to him the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand; ¹¹ not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man, but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this defileth the man.

²⁹ Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.
